| Questions: Could I not be able to collect unemployment benefits if my employer d I filed for unemployment benefits in the state of Maine 2 weeks ago, and while I realize it generally takes 1-2 weeks for the benefits to begin, and have checked the status of my claim on the Maine.gov website, it continuously says that the claim has not been processed and is still awaiting information from my previous employer. I DO have a letter of termination from the company stating I was released from my position due to business situations, and by no fault of my own...therefore believing I would have no trouble collecting while searching for another job. To add insult to injury, I was fired by my ex and his family, and fear that they may just not respond to the states request for information. Could I be denied or unable to collect if they don't respond to the states inquiry? Thank you for your help. |
