| Questions: Is having studied abroad and studied Spanish really very valuable in I graduated from college in May with a Management: Global Business degree and am struggling to find a permanent professional position. One qualification that I have often hoped would distinguish me is my experience studying abroad in Mexico and my study of Spanish. Foreign language competence is supposed to make you more competitive, right? Yet in many of my interviews some people could seem to care less! Even in a logistics company or a staffing agency, where you would think that a second language would be valuable. I realize that foreign language competence alone is not sufficient to get you hired: you have to be able to do the job itself first and foremost. Still, shouldn't it count for something? |
