| Questions: How long will it take for my child support case to be processed in Fl I have opened a case with the Child Enforcement Agency here in Florida and they have confirmed my soon-to-be ex's location in Oklahoma. They are now asking me to come in next week for an appt. during which they will get employment information from me and many documents will be notarized, it says in the letter they sent me. What I'm wondering is, what happens next? Do they write up documents that have to be heard in court (will I need to go to court??), or do they just pursue him through his employer or whatever once they have this info from me? Does anyone know the process and how long it takes? Also, will the financial info they receive about him be shared with my lawyer? He's waiting to finalize my divorce case until he gets info about my ex's finances so some of our shared debts and some of the legal fees can be assigned to my ex, rather than me having to pay everything myself. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! |
| My husband and I are actually on the process of divorce and we are actually fighting for child custody. My husband is insisting that he will get our two kids but I won't let it happen. As far as I know, kids below seven years old will still be under the custody of their moms. Is that right? I hope it is true. I won't just give my children to their dad. Whatever it takes! |
| That is your advantage Unah, as long as your kids are below seven years old the court would surely consider giving the children to you. But you have to also prove to them that you can take care of your kids, do you have work that would sustain their needs? It is also an important factor that you need to look at. And consider also the feelings of your kids. |
| I am so sorry about your divorce Unah. I hope that whatever problems you have with your ex-husband will already be settled for the sake of the kids. I do agree with Augustus, you just have to make sure that you can support the kids financially so the court will grant you the children's custody. Or better yet, make a settlement with your husband that would benefit not only you as parents but with the kids as well. |
| No idea what the process is like where you are but in any locale the best way to divorce is quick and painless without the bickering that drags down every one involved. As long as you are thinking of the kids first and foremost then the best outcome will automatically be found. Good luck with your information search! |
| If you are looking for a fastest way for the child support case, I think it would be better if you get the chance to meet your personal lawyer who is more knowledgeable with the legal processes. That kind of situation is quite difficult and sensitive since it talks about the custody of the kids. I hope that everything's will be remedied most especially the guidance for your kids. |
