| Questions: The Washington Post reported that U.S. commanders in Iraq are telling When I served in Vietnam we all knew a tour of duty meant 12 months. Today's soldier or Marine has no such guarantee. How much more can we expect from our military? Recruitment is down. Unless we reinstate the draft we will be short of the manpower to achieve our aims. Of course. If the Washington Times had reported it, would it then be true? Which paper has won more awards? But it was a localized war, unlike WWII which my dad fought in. These were men who were drafted. They were not professional soldiers and had little intent on becoming one. We fought in different wars. I enlisted, but the vast majority didn't. |
